This heartwarming woodblock print, "Children and Summer Festival" is by Hitoshi Kiyohara (1896-1956). Printed in Showa 30 nen (1955). This print shows the Japanese game "Kingyo - Sukui" in summer. "Kingyo - Sukui" (Goldfish scooping) is a traditional Japanese game in which a player scoops goldfish with a special scooper with very thin Japanese washi paper. It is easy to break when it gets wet. It is a very hard game. Japanese summer festivals commonly have a stall for this activity. Both children and adults enjoy the game. This game started in the late Edo period, around 1810. Today it is so popular that stalls can be found at many "summer festivals" in Japan.

The striking silkscreen print "Chusei Genji" (Genji in the Medieval Period) is by Masayuki Miyata (1926-1997). This print captures the image of a Medieval woman from the Tale of the Genji. The Beautiful black-and-white composition with gold accents creates a striking and mysterious mood. Limited edition size of only 100 sheets. The sheet number is on the bottom margin. The artist's red seal is located in the lower right corner of the image, but there is no signature.
Masayuki Miyata was a well-known Japanese Kiri-e (paper-cutting) artist. His career started as an illustrator for modern publications of Japanese classic literature, and he eventually became a recognized Kiri-e artist. The unique Western-style woodblock print "Circus Performers Parade" is by Hide Kawanishi (1894-1965). This colorful print depicts a delightful circus parade by the traveling circus. This was later printed in 1979. (posthumous printing)
